Radio Journalists Sophia, Allie and Ava
A great team of middle school journalists are at Casey Middle School, under the direction of Journalism Teacher Lee Lazar. School psychologist Carla Friedli contributes to many of the journalism projects. And the City of Boulder has been generous at providing some seed money for projects, through the Youth Opportunities Board, which has assisted Casey with getting some radio recording equipment plus some funds to me in thanks for my assistance to the talented and dedicated students and teachers at Casey. Thanks to KGNU for providing a broadcast venue for many of these stories.
Students at Casey select the projects that they want to focus on. We work together in the classroom, and also remotely, through password protected, web-based “posts” that allow us to swap draft scripts and sound files back and forth on the road to having a finished product.
