When a major health study called ACCORD showed that aggressive reduction of blood sugars in diabetics killed more people than it helped, the general response in media was to report that diabetics shouldn’t try to get their blood sugars into a somewhat normal range. Those reports tended to overlook the fact that the most common medical way to reduce blood sugars is to add more medications. In other words, it might be the extra medications that were killing many patients, rather than their lowered blood sugars. This story discussed that angle, plus how a low carb diet can reduce blood sugars without as much reliance on medications.
